“This lighter is an artefact. A historical relic. My father gave it to me and now I’m giving it to you. Can you not see the very importance of this moment?”

Dennis knows his oval cut from his radiant. His son Jason wants to open galleries. Rebecca just wants to put her clothes back on. And when you know what you want, what’s to stop you from getting it?

“In my good-natured way, I could never see it, I suppose. I was blind to it. I’ve never been able to understand selfishness, you see.”

Scott Wright’s urgent new play cuts to the heart of a snowballing sense of distance between two generations. The play has been commissioned as part of a dramaturgical research project which has been facilitated by Middlesex University, and was restaged at the King’s Head Theatre as part of the Without Décor programme.

Commissioned and directed by Bruce Adams for Thrust in collaboration with the King’s Head.
